Theories, theories…

I’ve just finished my case study and so have been trying to understand this person’s career history through the various theories we have been learning about.  There are actually a bewildering amount of thoughts, theories and perspectives that could be used to analyse or understand any given transition.  Each theory is convincing in its own way but by the same token each one has its own weaknesses.  I do have my favourites but I’m sure this is just my own prejudice at work.  I find it hard to be sure I’m being totally objective when choosing between theories and comparing strengths and weaknesses fairly.

Perhaps it doesn’t matter at the end of the day.  Maybe as long as we have an understanding of all of them its using elements from each at the appropriat time and with the appropriate person that is the key?
